In 2015 after having had breast cancer and testing BRCA2 positive, I underwent a bilateral mastectomy with immediate TRAM reconstruction which left me with painful cording and tightness in my arm and body.
It was Physiokey/Medkey Therapy that helped my body to heal, reduced my pain and restored function to my range of arm movement.
Did you know that Physiokey/Medkey therapy can help with:
- Post surgery pain and recovery
- Improving functional movement and range
- Fibrosis
- Softening scar tissue
- Peripheral neuropathy
- Maintaining stamina and energy levels during treatment
At Emmaus Health and Wellness you are fully supported during your breast cancer journey - in body, mind and spirit - to give you the greatest opportunity to heal and recover.
"I can certainly vouch for Louise and all of her treatments. From the time I first met her (not long after I had started my cancer treatment in 2017) to today, she has worked with me physically and emotionally. Her intuition when I walk in to her sanctuary is spot on - most times I don't even have to tell her how I feel. She just knows what I need. I was blessed to have been introduced to Lou. Thank you Lou for all you have done to help keep me balanced."
But not all effects of going through breast cancer are physical or obvious. When going through treatment, surgery and rehabilitation, it can feel like it is just one appointment after the other and often you can feel like there is no time to actually process what is happening - it can be one small thing that triggers you, sometimes even years later.
We spend a lot of our time being "ok", because when we are ok so are our family and friends. Sometimes though, we are really struggling with all that cancer is throwing at us, trying to navigate our way through the rollercoaster of emotions along with the physical symptoms and treatments, and all of that can feel really hard, draining and lonely.
To be treated by someone who genuinely understands what you are experiencing and going through can be a huge comfort and greatly assist your recovery.
I get it, I understand how you are feeling and why, and I am here to support and encourage you every step of your journey.
I also understand the pain from cording and extensive surgery and my priority is managing that for you and restoring function and range of movement.
I also provide lymphatic massage which can help to maintain a healthy lymphatic system, remove toxins and reduce swelling.
"Thank you for another wonderful lymphatic massage. This is the second one I have had and can't believe the difference in my hand and arm. I thought after the first massage it was a coincidence that my arm and hand felt less congested and swollen but it wasn't and actually improved more after the second massage. I have also noticed some weight loss and I have had an increase in energy and general well-being. I look forward to seeing you again for another lymphatic massage soon. Many thanks for your ongoing care."
If you are going through breast cancer and treatment right now, or even in the past, and you would like some help with the physical pain of cording or peripheral neuropathy and maintaining energy during treatment, along with support to process all the emotional repercussions, I would genuinely love to help you.
As a breast cancer survivor myself and treating other women with breast cancer, I know just how much this type of care and support is so desperately needed. It is my goal to provide the physical and emotional support you need.
