Here is Merilyn’s incredible story. 

Merilyn first came to see me in June 2018 for severe chronic back pain. Years of working hard lifting heavy things and taking care of her invalid husband had taken a toll on her back. 

Scans showed she had no discs between 5 vertebrae and the bone on bone pain was excruciating and debilitating.

“I had tried many different therapies including Physiotherapy and acupuncture,” she said. “I had seen 3 Pain Management Specialists who told me nothing could be done for me. One told me I’d be in a wheelchair in 18 months. That was 6 months before I began treatment with Louise. She said there was no cure for my kind of degeneration, but that she could manage my pain. 

I didn’t believe this could be possible as I had been like this for years and no other therapies had helped.”

At the time we began treatment, Merilyn could only walk short distances at the shops before needing to go home from the pain. 

The pain inhibited her from being able to care for her husband who was in a wheelchair after having a stroke. 

“After 18 months, my pain was so much better that I was able to go on a trip to America with my daughter,” Merilyn said. “Something I never would have even contemplated prior to having therapy. You can live with pain for a very long time, but pain is so persistent and so personal, it does get you down and gets you to a point where you just say to yourself “I can’t do this anymore, I’ve had enough…But now I am able to go out where I couldn’t, I am living independently in a retirement village and taking care of myself. I am in a singing group and still socialise with friends in a community women’s group I am in.
